Parker's Mind: F.A.Q

Because yesterday's post was so depressing, I've decided to post something Parker's Mind related.
You have questions, and I have answers. And all the regular ones should be answered here.
LET US BEGIN!

Q: What game is this?
A: Yes, I still get occasionally asked this! BLARGH! So yeah, the game is Red Faction... The first one.

Q: Will you be doing Red Faction 2, or RF: Guerilla?
A: Probably not, I don't own either game. Maybe I might play them later, but I doubt I will turn them into a mind series.

Q: OMG! Is the series over now?!
A: NO! If it was, I'd announce it here! Still got a few episodes yet.

Q: When's the next episode?
A: When it is done. Now PLEASE do not ask again!

Q: What are you going to do when Parker's Mind is over?
A: I am planning to do season 2 of Parker's Mind, using Unreal 1. Do not ask about it yet, as details are very sketchy, and very early in the planning phase. It's going to be quite tricky to transition between the seasons, so if you ask for details, the only answer you're going to get at this stage is I don't know.

Q: What tools do you use to make Parker's Mind?
A: I use FRAPS for footage, Audacity for audio and Adobe Premiere for editing, and the title card was drawn in Flash.

Q: Please add me as a friend!
A: No. Why isn't subscribing enough? It's great that you like my work, but my friend list is reserved for people I am actually friends with and who I actually talk to.

Q: I want to make my own mind series, any tips?
A: Firstly, if your voice hasn't broken yet, don't do it. Wait until you actually sound old enough to voice your character. Otherwise you're opening yourself up to being badly flamed. Secondly, be original. References are fine, but you have to come up with your own jokes or you're just going to end up a cheap knockoff of someone else's work. People don't want another Dr. Freeman in a different world. Lastly, be creative. Think outside the box. This makes your series more interesting. The rest you can work out on your own. Oh yeah, one last thing: NO MORE MALE CHELL'S MIND! Seriously! Besides, we already have a really good Chell's mind in the making which is actually done by a girl.

Q: Wait... Isn't Ultor from Saints Row 2?!
A: Yes, they are indeed, but Red Faction came quite a bit before Saints Row 2, and it's by the same developer.

Q: How come Parker talks under water?
A: Because his enviro-suit is environmentally sealed. If you remember, Mars has a thin atmosphere of carbon dioxide so everyone walks around in enviro-suits which are air, and water tight.

Q: Howcome you got Red Faction to look good on your system? It looks all distorted on mine!
A: You need to download the Pure Faction patch to run it on a modern system. Alternatively, you can get it from Steam.

Q: Are you an Atheist? If so, why?
A: Yes I am. As to why, I do not see why that is such a big deal. None of the religions make any logical sense to me. If there's a God, why would his bible be filled with so many holes and contradictions? If there is one true god, why are there so many different religions? Why are there so many different ways of believing in him? It says "Thou shalt not worship any god before me." But why does it need to say that? If he is the only God then that statement would be unnecessary. How come God didn't exist during the regime of ancient Greece? Or ancient Egypt? They had their own Gods, long before Christianity, Islam or Judaism were ever dreamed up. I have yet to see any proof that any of the religions are true. And also, I am quite happy not believing. So to all those that think one needs a god to be happy, and to have good morals, you're wrong. I am very happy, and one of the nicest people you'll know. I have strong moral values, and I do not need a god to have them. I don't see how anyone could truly believe that an Atheist can't possibly have morals.
Again, why is it a big deal that I am Atheist? Who cares?! I believe what I believe, you believe what you believe. I don't go forcing my beliefs on people. I go about my daily life like anyone else.
Answer me this, why is it, that it's such a huge deal when someone is an Atheist, but not when they're a Christian, Muslim, Jew or whatever?

I do believe that is all for now. If you think there is a question that should be added, leave it in the comments section below.

  3. I have two questions:

    1. What should be the "minimum" age for starting any mind series?

    2. Are you an Atheist? If so, why?

(Note that I respect you're an Atheist.)

    Thank you.

  4. Okay thank you for answering my question, sir. But note that I said I respected that, and the reason why I asked that question is just out of curiosity, and the fact that I heard something about you not believing God in the "Meeting of the Minds" video that was put up by IRAMightyPirate on Youtube. And you're right, it doesn't matter. Again, the reason I asked that was mainly out of curiosity. And thanks for pointing out your reasons that you're an Atheist. But I find it to be ironic that most people these days don't even talk about Hinduism being a religion (which apparently is mine by the way), but I'll answer your question about why people make a big deal out of people becoming Atheists:

We all live in a world, right? We have our own opinions, right? The MAIN reason people make a big deal out of this, Mr. James, is because they're arrogant and probably want people not to express their opinions, and just abide by one concept. I mean, if people these days talk about how we have no peace, first of all, have they looked at themselves? The only way we'll have world peace is probably when everyone respects each other, like family, there's no more crime, and also, accepts each other's opinions. Honestly, I don't see a problem with people being an Atheist. And seriously, you're right. It's not a HUGE deal, but it's more or like your opinion/belief. But, there are some people who are just cynical, and only want to attack people and make them believe this and that (aka converting). If people would just shut up, and just accept each other's beliefs/decisions/opinions, probably, peace can be attained in this world of ours. And it's a free world, right?

Again, "Why is it, that it's such a huge deal when someone is an Atheist, but not when they're a Christian, Muslim, Jew or whatever?"
It's because AGAIN, they're arrogant and probably want people not to express their opinions, and just abide by one concept.

There's your answer. And you know it's true as well. Think of the war in Afghanistan for example. For what damn reason are the American people fighting for? I mean, it's a huge waste of time, and most importantly, MONEY.

I can probably go on ranting about this, but I don't want to necessarily annoy and bore the hell out of you, seeing you have a life. Sorry again if I posted this here; your question just caught me and I just wanted to answer it, especially from the MIND of a 15 year old. But thanks for taking your time to answer my question. I do appreciate it, and it's cool to see your philosophy or probably reasons that you're an Atheist, which are acceptable (at least to me). You seem like a nice guy, and keep up the good work with Parker's Mind, Mr. James. Take care. Goodbye, sir.

  5. Now see, the reason I don't mention Hinduism is because I have yet to see a Hindu try to push their beliefs on others.
I did see the part where you said you respect my belief, which is great, which is why I tried to make my answer not look like I was directing it at you. Hence why it was a reasonable answer rather than an angry rant.
As for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm feeling like it's less about religion, and more about power/spreading Democracy. It didn't work for the Soviets and Communism, and I don't think it's going to work for the Americans and Democracy.
People don't like having ideas forced upon them. If people are happy the way they are then others should damn well leave them alone.

ANYWAY, this is a post about Parker's Mind, not my thoughts on the world lol.
If I feel compelled to make a post about that, I might do so later. But for now... It's Red Faction, the next episode is done when it's done, and yes, Ultor is in Saints Row II :P

  6. Lol thank you. I have one more question (yes it's about Parker's Mind):

The other day I saw your video, "Parker's Mind: Prologue" and I always wondered, what was the music playing during the entire video? Was it from Red Faction?

    Thank you.

  7. You're not a nice person if you swear too much. I still like your videos though.

  8. I am a perfectly nice person thank you. Ask anyone who knows me.
If you are judging me by the fact that I let off the occasional Fuck, then you, my friend, are no better than I am.
I have an idea, why don't you make your comments relevant to the posts, rather than telling me to not swear.
I really do not want to have to resort to, moderating my comments, but seriously, deal with it, or GTFO. I'm not interested.

@m4sterbr0s: The music is just a track from the Red Faction game.
